Day 01 : Mumbai (Bombay)

The
"Deccan Odyssey" starts its eight days journey through Maharashtra
every Wednesday from Ihe beginning of September to end March. Borad the
Train in the evening from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, formerly known as
Victoria Terminus in Mumbai, a UNESCO world heritage site. Wine and dine in
ihe luxurious comforts of this train ond whistle off on your royal voyage.
Day 02 : Jaigadh, Ganapoiipule, Ratnogiri
Morning - Arrival al Bhoke Railway Station. Reach Rai Bhatgoan Jetty by an
air-conditioned bus for Boclrwoler Cruise up to historical fort Jaigad.
Board the bus to explore finest beach along the Konkan coast. Free time S,
lunch at Ganapatipule bench resort. Noon board the bus for sight seeing lour
of Ratnagiri town. Visit to Ratnadurg Fort, Lokmanyo Tilak Smarak and free
time in Rotnogiri Bazar Boord the tram at Ratnagiri Railway station.
Day 03 : Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Sawantwadi
The "Deccan Odyssey" arrives at Sind-hudurg station in the
morning. Sindhudurg is situated on Ihe very tip of the Konkan coast. An
air-conditioned bus tokes you to Malvan Jetty Fromthere you go by boat to
the mighty Sindhudurg Fort, which was built in 1664 by the legendary Moraiha
warrior Shivaji, The building is sur-rounded by a curtain wall - ten metres
high and three metres thick. Afterwards you Irovel by bus to Tarkarli, an
unspoiled beach at the mouth of the river KarJi.
After lunch you take a jomanfic boat ride in Tarkarli bay before you board
the bus again in the late afternoon. The colourful Sawantwadi is home to the
Chitar Ali and the garden of Jagannathrao Bhosale, A further high-light is
Shilp Gram, an artisan village, here you con watch local artists while al
work - and, of course, you can also buy some croft souvenirs.
Day 04 : Goa

The
"Deccan Odyssey" reaches Goa in the morning. The smallest Indian
state was a Portuguese colony for 450 years. You can still feel the
Portuguese influence, especially in the Old Town: Brilliant while churches
are set in the midst of lavishly green parks. You see the "Basilica Bom
Jesus", which holds the remains of Si Francisco de Xavier You also
visit Se Cathedral and the church of Si Francis of Assis-L The latter has

Day 05 : Kolhapur, Pune

Board the bus la visit; New Polace, a royal palace partly converted into
museum, Bhawani Mandap (The Town Hall) witness traditional Martial Art
locally known as "Mardani Khel", an exquisitely carved Mohalaxmi
Temple a temple of goddess Ambabai visited by millions pilgrims, Shalini
Poloce built of intricately carved black stone S Italian marble stands on
the west side oi lake Rankala, watch cultural programme and visit to
handicraft stalls for perfect memorabilia. At noon board the train to Pune.
Lunch onboard. Evening arrive at Pune. Board the bus to visit Raja Dinkar
Kelkor Museum, houses, variety of orlifatts of the 17th, 18th & 19th
Centuries. Board th$ train from Pune railway station. Dinner on-board.
Day 06 : Aurangabad

Aurongabad
was founded by Emperor Aurangzeb in 1 610. In the morning ? bus takes you to
the maieslic Daulata-bad Fort to take onwards to the world-famous Ellora
caves, ? UNESCO world heritage site. The caves ore of Hindu, Jainist and
Buddhist origin and counl among the most beautiful caves in India.
Lunch at hotel in Aurangabad. We have also arranged for an interesting
cultural program to entertain you. The next attraction is the $hiva|i
Museum, which has weapons and antiques from the great Maratha empire on
display. Today's highlight is Bibi-ka-Maqbora, a replica of Taj Mahal is a
grand piece of Moghul architecture.
Day 07 : Ajanla, Nashik
In the morning, you arrive at Jaigoon station, situated in the rocky
Waghora valley Amidst these sleep walls lie the famous Ajanta Caves. They
were chiselled into the volcanic rocks between 200 BC and 650 AD and thus ai"e
noticeably older than the Ellora Caves, The wall paintings and sculptures
count among the most beautiful in the world. At noon board the train to
depart for Nasik. Lunch on board. On Arrival people welcome you m the
traditional way with garlands. The town lies on the river Godavari, one of
the holiest rivers in the Maharashtra region, 5e.ve.ral baihing places are
situated along the water, the best-known is Panchovati Ghat. Every twelve
years, people celebrate Ihe "Kumb Mela" here, the biggest
religious festival intheworld.
Return to the "Deccan Odyssey" in the evening, full of
impressions of seven exciting days. After a delicious dinner Ihe luxury
train heads back to Mumbai. This is the last stop of yourtrip.
Day 08 : Mumbai (Bombay)
In the early hours the "Deccan Odyssey" reaches Chhatrapati
Shivoji Terminus in Mumbai. Enjoy your lost breakfost on board the luxury
train while watching the sunrise over this beautiful lown.
